My name is Paul Boucher, I am the President of the York County fish & Game Club. I would like to give you a summary of the great things this organization does. Maybe this will make you want to join our club.
What we do as an organization
We are a community driven organization. The following is what I had listed that I could remember what OUR organization does. When someone asks or mentions, all you people are a Rod & Gun Club. Throw some of the following things at them. I think that the general membership doesn't realize how much we do offer.
We are active in the community every year as well as other organizations. Although we do not advertise what we do as much as others, maybe we should so that the community will know what great organization this is.
We help out the food pantry every December with our annual food drive called Hunters for the Hungry. Which can goods, fresh frozen game meat, farm vegetables, monetary donations, new unwrapped toys go to the Lyman/Dayton food pantry.
We sponsor/pay for local youth to attend the Maine Conservation School in Bryant Pond Maine. This club host a facility so a Boy Scout group can hold their meetings. So that they don't loose their charter. We allow overnight camp outs for other Boy Scouts Troops. We donate each year gifts, fishing tackle to an annual kids derby in Biddeford. Many dedicated instructor's, teach courses of Bow and Firearms Hunters Educational Safety Courses every year. This club has instructors which teaches handgun safety(a requirement to seek a concealed firearms permit) We provide free family membership to our Active Military personal. Protecting all of our well beings. We provide a safe indoor archery program in the winter months. As well as a safe place for members to sharpen ones marksmanship either with firearms or bow & arrow. We provide a facility for the Town of Lyman's Parks & Recreation to host the annual Haunted House. Which has grown in numbers year after year. Our facility hosts the Maine Youth Field Day Events over the past years (At no charge) This teaches our youth in a safe atmosphere, a tradition which we hope they will carry on for generations to come.
We have 300 + acres of property open to the public, for bird watching, nature lovers, fishing, hiking, hunting. There is cross country skiing, mountain biking and all other outdoor recreation. We have had a strong voice in getting the regulation changed in our pond (which is open to the public) to better and to keep interest in fishing for the youth. We have opened an access trail to the local ATV club as well as the local snowmobile club. We do stuffed animal drive for the local law enforcement agencies for crisis intervention. We are a community driven organization. I am proud to be a member of this organization. You should be also.
Regards
Paul Boucher
